Illinois 10th Congressional Republican backed by Chinese real estate interests
GOTION may get the legislature they have been searching for in Jim Carris
Illinois congress candidate Jim Carris’s top contributor, Colliers International, is a real estate firm that relies on being able to sell Illinois properties to Chinese companies. At least twenty individuals employed by Colliers International donated to Jim Carris’s campaign.
Jim Carris’s donors were involved in the Chinese acquisition of a 212,000 square foot industrial facility in elk Grove village, a 100,000 square foot industrial facility in Vernon Hills, a 99,000 square foot industrial facility Franklin Park and more.
This year the China Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) even sent one of Carris’s donors across China as a part of the “Team Illinois delegation”. The mission of the trip was to increase Chinese and Illinois trade relations.
Even further, Jim Carris has embraced the endorsement of Mark Kirk, who has registered as a Chinese Lobbyist.
So with the national republican Republican party proposing a ban on Chinese acquisition of farm lands.
And the Illinois state Republican Party claiming “combating Chinese encroachment in American industries” is a “top priority”.
Jim Carris could really be the vote Chinese real estate has been looking for.
Max Wisdom. All 3 acquisitions involved Jim Carris Donors. There were more i did not post. You can double check on fec.gov
3 of the acquisitions you cite took place in 2017, when Carris was senior managing director at CBRE. The Franklin Park facility was a sale from wanxiang to Brookfield Properties.
The relationship between Wanxiang and Colliers is the 40 year relationship between Wanxiang CEO Larry Krueger and then-Colliers managing director (Carris's predecessor) David Kahnweiler.
Neither donated to Carris. Kahnweiler is a big donor to Democrats, from Kamala Harris to Alexi Giannoulias to Tammy Duckworth to Dan Seals, while Krueger has only given to Cory Booker.
But back to Wanxiang buying buildings with Colliers. This was the Kahnweiler regime. The fact Colliers went outside to get a new managing director indicates a change of direction.
Really a tin-hat worthy article.
