Shields Township GOP seemingly managed by White Dudes for Harris
Republican Chair Dan Rogers tells ABC news that the key to beating democrats is being a Democrat.
Dan Rogers, Chair of the Shields Township GOP, recently told ABC News that "the key to Republicans taking back the county is moving away from former President Donald Trump."

This is contradictory given that Shields Township GOP’s top three donors are: 1) "Citizens Farmers Combine PAC," a shadowy Republican PAC, 2) Trump mega-donor Dick Uihlein, and 3) Robert Metz—the founder of the "Lake Bluff Militia," a far-right, pro-Trump group.

Rogers further told ABC News that Shields County "should run more candidates who support gun control and abortion rights." This repudiates the 2024 Illinois GOP platform, which opposes "any efforts by the state or municipalities to impede the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms," including advocating for the repeal of FOID cards.
The Illinois GOP's 2024 platform also emphasizes that the right to life is a core belief, stating that life "begins at conception," the unborn should receive 14th Amendment protections, and Roe v. Wade should remain overturned.
Rogers, who took over the Shields Township GOP with promises of fresh energy and renewed focus, has yet to deliver on those commitments. With two weeks until election day, Shields Township GOP has no upcoming events. And over the past two years, the township’s campaign disclosures reveal just two expenses: $25,334.94 to the often-criticized consulting firm "Surus" and a $160 dollar penalty to the state election authority.

As for Rogers' professional background, he works for his elderly mother’s landscaping company, where he manages day-to-day tasks like meeting with clients, while his mother handles "the business side" of things.
Inconsistency and hypocrisy can be toxic for political movements, where trust is the most valuable currency. Perhaps Dan should join the Shields Township Democrats, as their values align more closely with his, and leave the operations of the Shields Township GOP to his mom.
